Landscape Analysis for the Spring Mountains Recreation Area
Client: U.S. Forest Service
Location: Nevada
Summary: ENTRIX worked with the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) interdisciplinary team to develop a landscape analysis for the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area outside Las Vegas. ENTRIX developed a GIS-based model that evaluated the relative benefits of different recreational activities throughout the recreation area. Utilizing this model in conjunction with data regarding existing recreation facilities and biological resources, ENTRIX analyzed the benefits and tradeoffs of recreation and human uses in the area. Throughout the project, ENTRIX economists and GIS specialists worked closely with ENTRIX biological and ecological scientists, Forest Service staff, and various partners in the project to meet the objective of developing an adaptive management strategy for the future.
