Omak Creek Stream Restoration

Client: Colville Confederated Tribes

Location: Oganokan County, WA

Summary: ENTRIX was contracted by the Colville Confederated Tribes to restore a 3,000-foot length of Omak Creek located in Oganokan County, WA. ENTRIX created a geomorphically stable creek that maintains habitat quality and fish passage. Our staff performed surveying, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, concept and construction plan development, and construction supervision. Major project components included excavation of 50,000 cubic yards of fill and placement of boulders and native vegetation to create a stable floodway for the 100-year flood flow. The channel cross section was designed for low-flow fish passage, bankfull flow, and overbank flooding, as well as to provide stability during the 100 year event. The project involved bank re-contouring, creation of a rock riffle-pool complex to provide habitat passage for the protected steelhead—including boulder weirs and bank toes.
