Point Wells Oil Spill
Location: Puget Sound, WA
Summary: ENTRIX provided environmental response and NRDA services associated with the release of approximately 5,600 gallons of No. 6 fuel oil into Puget Sound on December 30, 2003. Initially, ENTRIX staff led the ICS Environmental Unit and directed emergency cleanup activities including SCAT surveys, environmental monitoring, abiotic and biotic sampling; conducting mass balance analyses, assessing human health risks, obtaining environmental permits, and developing appropriate SEPs (supplemental environmental projects). ENTRIX also served as the RP’s lead on-site representative for assessing natural resource injuries, conducting NRDA modeling, developing NRDA restoration projects, and conducting agency and tribal coordination. Key issues were related to potential impacts to resources held in trust by American Indians.
